The Cracow Cathedral’s main body began to be built some time after the consecration of the chancel in 1346 but the work was completed before 1364. The body is compact, on a nearly square plan and was built in the basilica system.. The eastern bay wall is built completely in brick, while two bays from the western side feature a facing made of carefully cut limestone plates. It was the first example of such finish of walls in Cracow, which later become popular. It was used in the Clock Tower and two chapels at the cathedral façade.
We are all well aware that to enter this Cathedral can not be without emotion. More I say, you can not enter it without the internal tremor, without fear because it contains in it - as in almost no Cathedral of the world - the enormous size, which speaks to us in all our history, our entire past.
